MY FAVORITE CO-OP CLASSES
Gloria Anderson
One of my favorite co-op classes was taking a drama class taught by Mrs. C. Guest. I was in two dramas by her in co-op. I was in “Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock”, and “Anansi and the Talking Melon.” In “Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock, I played Anansi, the spider. In Anansi and the Talking Melon,” I played the understudy for Hippopotamus. At the end of the classes in the two dramas, all the actors invited a whole bunch of friends, and we did a performance for everyone. I had a lot of fun doing this, because I really like acting. We also did a performance at a nursing home. Everyone there enjoyed it, including us actors.

Another one of my favorites was when I took tap dancing lessons by Mrs. Plath. I remember learning different short moves with both heel and toe. I enjoyed that. I like dancing, so my favorite part of learning tap was learning the moving dances as a group. Also, at the end of the semester of co-op, we did a group recital for the whole co-op.

One of my favorite classes in co-op was taking Flower Arranging. Our teacher showed us how to take care of flowers, put them in best order, etc. We even got to each have our own pot of flowers to put together at the end. It was fun.
I liked taking Spanish class with Mrs. Plath. We learned how to say small phrases like, ‘Como estas?’ which means ‘How are you?’ or ‘Como se llama’ which means ‘What is your name?’ Our teacher told us how to say our names in Spanish, and if we wanted to know how to say something in ‘Espanol’, (that’s how you say Spanish) she would teach the word to us. I learned colors, numbers up to thirty, names, phrases etc. I took 2 Spanish classes, but that one told me most about Spanish.
Storybook Art was a fun class for grades 2-3,taught by Mrs. J. White. Our teacher would read a story to us, and we would talk about the book, and talk about parts of a story, like the plot, onomatopoeia the main characters etc. We also would make a craft to go with the story, like if there was a hot air balloon in the story, we would use a small balloon and make our own mini hot air balloon. Once we each made our own mini apple pie! That was my favorite day from that class.
